There’s a brief, magical moment each spring when Orr’s Farm Market in Martinsburg, West Virginia transforms into something straight out of a storybook. Rows of cherry, peach, and apple trees burst into bloom, creating a rolling landscape washed in soft pinks and creamy whites. It’s one of my favorite backdrops of the year, and one of the most requested locations for spring photo sessions.

When the blossoms arrive, the orchard becomes a sea of color. The neatly planted rows of trees create beautiful natural leading lines, while the petals overhead soften the light and add a romantic, airy feel to every image. When Do the Blossoms Bloom? The bloom window at Orr’s Farm Market varies each year and depends heavily on the weather, but here’s a general guide:

- Peach blossoms typically bloom first, usually in early April. Their vibrant pink flowers are often at peak between April 1-12.

- Apple blossoms follow shortly after, usually appearing in mid-April, with peak bloom around April 12–22.

- Each type of blossom generally lasts 10–14 days, making the timing short and sweet.

Last year, a late cold snap shortened the bloom season earlier than expected. While that’s always a possibility with spring weather, we’re hopeful it was an anomaly and that this year will give us a longer, more predictable window.
